Jens Hauser

Jens Hauser (France/Germany), born 1969. Art curator and writer who has recently organised a huge show on biotechnological art at the National Arts and Culture Centre Le Lieu Unique, Nantes, France, "L'Art Biotech'" (2003). His forthcoming curated exhibitions deal with the paradigm of "skin as a technological interface".  Hauser has written and given conferences about the interaction of film culture and video games (Cahiers du Cinéma, Cinematheque Taiwan, European Media Art Festival Osnabrück, INVIDEO Milano, Cinemedia Bremen) and on contemporary music. Has taught media theory and intercultural approaches at Ruhr University Bochum and organized (Sorbonne University Paris, Maison Européenne de la Photographie Paris, EMAF Osnabrück, Nantes, Marseille, Bordeaux) and participated in numerous conferences on contemporary media art and bio art. His teaching and conference activities have been supported by Goethe Institut (University Tbilissi/Georgia, Rumania, Macedonia, Italy, Taipeh). Hauser is also an invited professor at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and at Taipeh University in 2005. He is the director of creative radio pieces, sound environments and documentary films which have been shown in festivals and as video installations in museums. After studies in media and film theory, psychology and scientific journalism (Münster, Bochum, Tours) he has collaborated regularly with the European culture television Arte since its creation in 1992, as well as with the cultural programs of the German broadcasting stations WDR, NDR, SWR, Deutschlandfunk, Deutschlandradio and ZDF. Currently involved in two long-term film projects about bioart. Hauser has also been engaged in projects helping visually disabled people to access art and cinema. He worked on the topic of "cinema for the blinds" since 1992, including audiodescription of films for arte, theoretical universitary workshops and professional training on behalf of the german association of the blind DBSV.
